creative commons or copyright?

Last weekend (16-18 September 2011) was the 2011 creative commons global summit. I am far away from anything like having expertise in creative commons, but I am really taken by Mary St George’s comments suggesting that liturgical texts be made available using creative commons rather than copyright (see here and here). I support and advocate… Continue Reading

The psalm at a Eucharist

The Revised Common Lectionary (and its Roman Catholic equivalent, the three-year cycle of Sunday readings) has three readings and a psalm. My friend and colleague, Peter Carrell, is the Director of Education for the Anglican Diocese of Christchurch. He is one of the people who would have a very good overview of the worship life… Continue Reading

We have no real idea of national church-attendance, baptisms, weddings; we do not know our clergy age-distribution, their qualifications, or where or if they trained; etc. This means we cannot observe trends or do… Continue Reading

Christchurch earthquakes

Christchurch’s Monday’s 6.3 earthquake at a depth of 6.1 Kilometers was, yet again, on a fault no one knew about. Many more buildings, including churches, were damaged, and further battered. Lyttelton’s historic Anglican church has now gone. The iconic rose window of the Anglican Cathedral collapsed on Monday. The Roman Catholic Cathedral of the Blessed… Continue Reading

face-palm award

I have blogged a bit about the wide variety of liturgical options provided in our church. And I have blogged about the way that people find even this wide flexibility too restrictive. But, even knowing all this, even I am sometimes rendered speechless by the “creativity” of the innovations that people come up with! Hence,… Continue Reading
