Southern Hemisphere Easter 2

A Southern Hemisphere Easter photographic reflection in my garden (part 7)

In no resurrection story is Jesus recognised immediately.

John 20:15 Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you looking for?” Supposing him to be the gardener, she said to him, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away.”

Luke 24:15 While they were talking and discussing, Jesus himself came near and went with them, but their eyes were kept from recognizing him.

There is continuity and there is discontinuity in resurrection.

1 Corinthians 15:42 So it is with the resurrection of the dead. What is sown is perishable, what is raised is imperishable. It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness, it is raised in power. It is sown a physical body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a physical body, there is also a spiritual body.

  1. This series has been beautiful and quite thought provoking. I have never before thought of the metamorphosis of Christ’s body as a reason that he was not initially recognized by Mary Magdalene. What a notion. Thank you.
