Stations of the Kings Cross

Stations of the Kings CrossWhat an absolutely brilliant idea!

An artist who realised that moving clockwise or anti-clockwise on the Circle Line in the Tube (underground) in London, that there is one tube stop for each station (of the cross), ending up at king’s Cross.

The artist has found train trips an amazingly fruitful time for prayer and contemplation.

All the information can be found here. (You can get a booklet sent out to you) Update: I have been in touch with the artist; you can now download a PDF (4.2MB) here.

What can we do, inspired by this creativity, to make everyday experiences, places, etc. a focus for spirituality – for ourselves and for others?

Some prayerful Londoner will now have to take this to the next phase and construct Stations of the Resurrection as outlined in the Church of England’s Easter season devotion from Common Worship, page 446:

These stations celebrate encounters with the Risen Lord – in continuation from the Stations of the Cross as a meditation on the saving mysteries of the Lord.

As there are 19 Stations of the Resurrection the Circle Line may not fit with this configuration. Perhaps, instead of an underground train line, an above-ground bus route might better capture the light of the resurrection!

    1. Thanks, “paper-cutter” (we normally use our ordinary name on this site). I look forward to the PDF, and wonder why there isn’t a link to just access the PDF on the site. Blessings.
