What was the forbidden fruit consumed about 6,000 years ago by Adam and Eve (the ancestors of all humans), after having been urged on by a talking snake, and that, in doing so, they unleashed all evil in the universe as well as originating death?

In their Church Calendar, Anglicans today commemorate Thomas More as a martyr of the Reformation. O God,
you shine the light of your truth for those who stray into error,
so that they may be able to return to the right path,
grant that all who profess the Christian faith
may reject whatever is contrary to the name of Christ
and eagerly follow the way that leads to you;
through Jesus Christ
who is alive with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
Amen.

Almighty God,
whose blessed apostles Peter and Paul
glorified you by their martyrdom:
Grant that your Church,
instructed by their teaching and example,
and knit together in unity by your Spirit,
may ever stand firm upon the one foundation,
which is Jesus Christ our Lord;
who lives and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.
