  1. Bosco; respectfully, this question might be quite similar to: “Where was God at the crucifixion?”

    The only answer to both questions, in my view is;
    God was there. God is never absent from Creation.

  2. The last hymn William Cowper wrote says it all:

    God moves in a mysterious way
    His wonders to perform;
    He plants His footsteps in the sea
    And rides upon the storm.

    Deep in unfathomable mines
    Of never failing skill
    He treasures up His bright designs
    And works His sovereign will.

    Ye fearful saints, fresh courage take;
    The clouds ye so much dread
    Are big with mercy and shall break
    In blessings on your head.

    Judge not the Lord by feeble sense,
    But trust Him for His grace;
    Behind a frowning providence
    He hides a smiling face.

    His purposes will ripen fast,
    Unfolding every hour;
    The bud may have a bitter taste,
    But sweet will be the flower.

    Blind unbelief is sure to err
    And scan His work in vain;
    God is His own interpreter,
    And He will make it plain.

    We get to see God and Jesus and the spirit in people like you every day Bosco; without suffering, and acts of self-sacrifice to help alleviate it, there is no Christianity, no religion.

    Empathy and compassion come from our experiences, including or maybe especially those of loss and pain: ‘what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?’ It is the whole basis of knowing right from wrong in that.

    Another quote from Cowper: ‘God made the country, and man made the town.’ Ours is a heavenly not earthly kingdom…

  3. Inquiring minds really want to know what you lot did that was so horrible to bring this down on your own heads?

    🙂

    I have to ask: was that first earthquake, the big September 2010 one that didn’t kill anyone, a miracle (given that the warning prompted buildings to be closed that could have killed thousands in 2011)??
