No more proper Sundays – for a while

The printed NZ Anglican lectionary for 2009 has been adding the term “Proper” Sundays, confusing the Canadian numbering (identical to the Roman Catholic “Ordinary Sunday” numbering) and the USA numbering (which only starts after Pentecost). This results in Propers 6 and 7 being celebrated twice! So today in the NZ printed version is called Proper 4:

I have been blogging about this confusion here.

I mentioned yesterday that the PDF of the lectionary is now online. On opening the PDF, I was… ummm… surprised to see that the PDF had removed the “Propers” prior to Lent (I also notice it has reversed the order of 3rd Sunday in Ordinary Time and the Conversion of St Paul – January 25):

This means, someone not only is reading my blog reflections on this, but agreeing with me, and updating the file accordingly :-)
