Digital, online versions of A New Zealand Prayer Book – He Karakia Mihinare o Aotearoa, and parts of it, are becoming available.
I have prepared a static page of digital versions of A New Zealand Prayer Book. This includes a digital epub file for iPod, iPad, iPhone. I have downloadable Word and PDF files there. Apologies for any errors and typos. As better versions become available I will put them on that page.
I have also added some other online Prayer Books, and similar.
This has been a major project, and I hope it is useful and appreciated. It may look simple on the page, but there’s quite a bit of work underneath it. And hence also possibilities for mistakes. So, if you find a link on the page doesn’t work, or it downloads an incorrect document, please let me know.
If you know of other similar online resources, please also put this in the comments below, and I will consider adding them to the static page.
Digital versions of A New Zealand Prayer Book.
Thank you! This is great!!!
Thanks for the appreciation, Sue. I put together this website in moments snatched between a very busy schedule – and, either I’m extra tired, or the task was, in fact, complicated – it took more getting it right than usual. Blessings.
Any chance you could format this so I could put it on my Kindle? I would love to have some up-to-date devotional materials on my Kindle. So far, all I’ve found is a KJV Bible, which because I’m relatively “mature” isn’t all that bad, but it does seem odd, in that KJV was superceded more than a half-century ago.
Thanks for your comment, Larry. I don’t know if you have searched for a way of doing the reformatting? If you or someone else produces such a resource, I would be more than happy to host it here. Blessings.
If a documented is formatted pdf, it can be converted to Kindle format, by Kindle, by emailing it to your Kindle device – documentation in here, chapter 8. http://kindle.s3.amazonaws.com/Kindle_User's_Guide_English.pdf
At risk of misunderstanding you, Bosco, it sounds like buying an iPad would be a great idea 🙂
Seriously: thank you for your work on this!
Thanks, Peter. I have been up late and early for some days trying to get this all to work. I think I am struggling with what undergirds this site – with more than 2,000 visitors here a day now, having rebuilt the site completely once previously, I am beginning looking at options – no promises, as I suspect it is more cost to me (I’m fine about that) and possibly quite a bit of time (which I struggle more with). Blessings.
larry – you should be able to either email the PDF direct to your Kindle account, or use Calibre (http://calibre-ebook.com) to convert them to mobi format and sync them to your kindle.
calibre is free and open source.
Ali
Thanks. I did think about sending a .pdf to kindle with “convert” in the subject line. I’ll try doing that.
Am I missing something? It looks like only select parts are available in pdf format, and multiple files at that, whereas there is only one file for the mobile app. I’m neither Anglican, nor from New Zealand, so I don’t know the ins and outs of the prayer book. Is the reason the .pdfs appear to begin on p. 400 or there abouts because the common prayer is in the back part of the hymnal, and the first 400 pp. are set aside for the hymns?
Larry, the history of the NZ Prayer Book is complex – and anyone interested can poke around the links on this site to explore that. Page 404 is where the Eucharist begins. As soon as more digital resources become available, I will try as much as possible to make them available on this site. Blessings.
Thanks, Bosco! The New Zealand Prayer Book has been gathering quite a following here in the US. It’s great that I can now read it on my iPad (and smart phone).
If we find typos, to whom should we send them?
Thanks again!
Thanks, Simon. Errors on the PDFs and Word documents I can alter here on the site. Alterations to the .epub are way beyond my skills I’m afraid. Blessings.
