If your piety allows for no humour around images of God – don’t watch this movie where God lives in Brussels and is a grumpy sadist who created humans to have beings to torment. His son, Jesus Christ, whom we’ve all heard of, has brought a compassionate message to humanity. This is the story of God’s daughter, Ea, who follows her brother’s approach and seeks to write a Brand New Testament. As part of her rebellion against God, Ea reveals everyone’s date of death.
Unsurprisingly, the more you know about Christianity, the funnier and more insightful the film is. There is much to reflect on – from our images of God, to how not knowing the date of our death affects us.
