I have to declare:
1) I love Thomas Merton
2) I am the Chaplain at his dad’s secondary school (Christ’s College, Christchurch, New Zealand)
I was delighted to give money towards the development of Day of A Stranger, a short film at Thomas Merton’s hermitage and using tape recordings he made there. That was three years ago.
Today, is the World Premiere at Illuminate Film Festival in Sedona, Arizona, Cassidy Hall will be joining the other short-film directors for a brief Q&A. The film will become available via Vimeo on Demand in the coming weeks here: https://vimeo.com/ondemand/dayofastranger Look out for the release of the film’s original score by Alex and Ed in the coming weeks as well.
I have had a strong interest in Thomas Merton since I was a teenager. In 2006, I set in motion the process which added Thomas Merton to the Calendar of the Anglican Church in Aotearoa, New Zealand and Polynesia.
