I have celebrated St Francis’ Day with my congregations every year except one. (I thought that my first year in a country parish, close to the Vicar of Dibley episode might have been too corny.) So far we have always blessed the pets during the usualSunday eucharist. It is one service to which members are very happy to invite their friends. Depending on time we write something special for the day or use the prayer book service and add the blessing.
At my current parish we give each pet a “medallion” with a picture of Francis and a prayer.
