Lectio Divina – sacred reading
Do you have any reflection on today’s reading and collect?
Give ear to our prayers, O Lord, and direct the way of your servants in safety under your protection, that, amid all the changes of our earthly pilgrimage, we may be guarded by your mighty aid; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
Jesus said: ‘Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets; I have come not to abolish but to fulfil. For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not one letter, not one stroke of a letter, will pass from the law until all is accomplished. Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, will be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.’ (Matthew 5:17–19)

I had the great idea of giving up bad words and their accompanying ungracious thoughts for a modest discipline for this Lenten season. Well, have you ever viewed a YouTube video of a very guilty dog after the sofa somehow became torn to shreds? And yet, Lord, you give ear to my prayers, you direct me in safety. You guard me by your mighty aid. Amen.
