The Rev. Charles Holt missed the point of why there needs to be some fact to go along with the truth.
The point is that Dr. Borg believes in a God that exists in a world that ultimately humans can understand. Metaphor becomes an excuse to dismiss something as factual, as is.
Now, I’m not saying that Scripture is a 100% factual account of things based on modern rules of journalism or history. However, the people that wrote it believed something, and ancient men weren’t as ignorant as some people make them out to be.
The resurrection of Jesus means that we cannot comprehend things in a logical way. We are called to bring more.
