Book of Prayers in Common 2013

Book of Prayers in Common

I am absolutely delighted to launch the first edition of my Book of Prayers in Common. If you are a regular at this Liturgy website you will have seen this being developed step by step. If you are one of the people who has helped with that preparation of this book – thank you.

You can download the Book of Prayers in Common by clicking the link:

Book of Prayers in Common PDF

You can also download it as an .epub file (This is for iPad and other mobile devices. I am not as happy yet with this – if you have the option, I would use the PDF above. It should work fine on most mobile devices.)

Book of Prayers in Common epub

The text of the book is also online on this site as a webpage. [Update: a Kindle version is now available also, on that page].

This book is an ongoing project, and you will find further additions and editions on this site as they are prepared. It would be great to have it at least translated into Te Reo Māori. If you are interested in assisting with that, please let me know.

Many of you know – I have been working on this for a long time – a treasure of prayers we share as Christians, collects reworked for our new context. It seems particularly appropriate to launch this in a week that in the Northern Hemisphere, at least, Christians are particularly praying for Christian Unity.

If you appreciated this post, there are different ways to keep in touch with the community around this website: like the facebook page, follow twitter, use the RSS feed,…

  1. Thanks for this. I have downloaded it to just about every reading app that I have for iPad and the pdf functions fine in all of them; Nook, Kindle, Kobo; GoodReader, DropBox, etc.

Is the pdf locked? Would you be interested in a little editing assistance?

  2. Great work Bosco, I’ve been enjoying your reflections on the site as you go, and having them all in one book is a great resource.

I’ve just downloaded both pdf and epub. I found the pdf was fine on the computer screen, but when I downloaded it to my Sony e-reader the text was too small, and when I enlarged it I lost the end paragraphs of each page. (a common problem with pdf on this device I’ve found).

While the opening pages and contents of the epub do need a little bit of tidying up, the content itself is easier to read on my Sony device.

    • Thanks a lot for the encouragement, Claudia. Means a lot to me. I have no idea about the Sony e-reader – but in time, not only will the resource be extended (especially with the positive feedback – including individually by email to me), but I will crawl further up the learning curve to make it available better in different formats. Blessings.

  3. Hi Bosco,
I have searched for this book on my kindle, and the kindle store/amazon isn’t finding it. Do I need to go through a different web site and somehow link it to my kindle?
    Many thanks.
    Laura

    • Fr. Aaron, at present this edition of a Book of Prayers in Common is only available free and on your computer, iPad, smart phone, or other digital platform. In the post above you can click on some of the options with the words underlined. Let me know if it is not clear. I hope you find it useful. Blessings.
